Creating your first discbound planner
Ready to get started in the world of discbound planning?
Here's a quick guide of what you'll need to get started.
1. A snap-on cover
To get started, you'll need a snap-on cover to protect the contents of your binder. If you're not going to use a wrap-around cover as well, it may be worth opting for a vegan leather snap-on cover as this will be a little more sturdy, especially if you're planning to take your planner around with you in your bag.
2. Your discs
You'll need 8 discs for an A5 discbound planner. While you can select out of plastic or metal, I suggest opting for metal if you can, as metal discs can't crack and will last a lot longer. If you're. not sure what size discs you'll need start with something larger than 20mm and smaller than 30mm and go from there.
3. Your inserts
You'll also need to decide what insert designs you want to include in your planner. Will you just use your planner as a notepad and tasks list? Will you use it to run your household, and need things like meal planners and weekly schedules for each family member? Will you use it for work, and so need pages for project management and meeting minutes?Â
4. Tab stickers or dividers
You'll likely want a way to easily locate and access each section of your planner. You could do this with tab stickers, but our recommendation are tabbed dividers, like our frosted plastic ones. These are more hardy and won't mean you have to stick something on to your inserts themselves.
This is all you'll need to get started, but you can go crazy accessorising from there!
If you're ready to get started but are feeling a little overwhelmed, take a look at our discbound starter kit, which includes samples of many of our insert designs so you can see what works for you before going all in on particular designs.
